Rowan, Moutain Ash, Caorthan is one of Ireland’s native trees. This book explores its botany, history and folklore.
These books explore the mythology associated with flowers and how they have been used as metaphors and representations in art, music and literature. The design aesthetic and typography take inspiration from the work of William Morris and the Pre-Raphaelites, who were particularly fond of floral motifs and symbolism. The book was two colour risograph printed which gives a hazy, naturalistic effect to the graphics.
Book and poster designed in a workshop led by Sarah Boris. The book and poster were Riso printed in editions of 50 copies, with each student contribuiting a number of letter designs.
